Emma The Mermaid

Hey Everyone! I'm back and today I am sharing with you my May inspiration for A Perfect Time To Craft. If you would like to join in with our challenge then head on over to - https://aperfecttimetocraft.blogspot.com/. We have some great prizes up for grabs again this month! This month we where lucky enough to have two sponsors - https://fred-she-said-store.blogspot.com/ and https://www.etsy.com/shop/TheArtsystamperShop. I decided to choose this lovely Emma the mermaid and friends digital stamp set from Fred She Said. Here's the link just in case you want the set for yourselves - http://fred-she-said-store.blogspot.com/

This month I decided to use a 8x8 inch square card blank. First I used my corner punch to round the corners. The next thing I did was download the digital stamp set and sized them all on to a word document. I printed off 2 of each seaweed, 2 of each seashells, 2 star fish, 1 crab, 2 of the striped fish, 2 of the plain fish, 2 seahorses, 1 fish holding balloons and a mermaid. Once printed I used my pencils to colour them all in. I then cut around them all using my scissors.

I set them all to one side and found this lovely blue with hints of white backing paper in my stash and decided it would work perfectly for under the sea. I covered my card base with double sided tape and secured it to the back of my backing paper. Then I cut the excess off from around the card. Next I arranged all my cut out pieces on to my card until I was happy with how it looked. I then used double sided tape to secure them all on to my card base. To finish my card off I found some small silver gems in my stash and randomly placed them on to my card until I was happy with how it looked. That's it! Hope you enjoyed it. Thanks for looking!

Captain Tom Moore

Hey everyone! I'm back today with one of my favorite cards I've made in a while. This card has been sent off to a very special man who has been in the news a lot these last couple of weeks. For those who haven't heard of Captain Tom Moore he is a war veteran who is turning 100 at the end of April. He has raised over £20 million to date for the NHS by walking 100 lengths of his garden. A great help to our over stretched NHS at these worrying times. So I decided to join the many others by sending him a handmade card for his very special birthday.

For this card I wanted to try something a bit different so decided on a twisted easel card. I've never made one before but once I knew what to do it was pretty straight forward. I decided to go on YouTube and find a tutorial. I found this one simple and easy to follow-   https://www.youtube.com/. I just changed the measurements as I wanted my card bigger. For the base of my twisted easel I made mine from navy card and measured it at 29cms long by 14.5cms wide. The square front of my twisted easel again was made from navy card and it measured at 19.5cms squared.

So I started with the square front of my card. I used my guillotine to cut out red matting measuring at 19cms squared. I used double sided tape to secure it to my navy square. The next decision was to choose a backing paper and I decided on this lovely Union Jack one. I measured it 18.5cms squared and cut it out with my guillotine. Again I used my trusty doubled sided tape to stick my backing paper on to my red matting. I wanted to make this card personal so I found two photos of Tom Moore - one when he was in the army and a recently taken one.

I also found photos of his two regiment cap badges and a photo of a World War 2 medal. I sized them all on a word document and also typed out a big '100' and 'We Salute You'. I printed them all off and cut them all out using my scissors. I matted my wording and images with red and navy card.  I put all of my elements on to my square base and moved them around until I was happy with there placement. I used glue dots to stick them all on to my square. That's the square front done.

The next part was my base. I measured out a 14cms squared piece of red card and a 13.5cms squared piece of Union Jack Backing Paper. I used double sided tape to stick both pieces to my navy card base. I glued my triangle part of my base to the back of my square front. To finish my card off I printed and cut out ' Happy 100th Birthday Captain Tom Moore'. I then matted it in navy and red card. Lastly I used foam pads to secure my sentiment on to the base of my card. That's it! I hope you enjoyed it. Thanks for looking!

Just Because

Hey everyone! I'm back and today I get to share with you some news. I have just become the newest member of Creative Fingers Design Team. If you would like to check out the blog and maybe even join in with our challenge then head on over to  https://creativefingerschallengeblog.blogspot.com/. We have a great prize up for grabs!

For my first card as part of the team I got to pick a digital stamp from Ching-Chou Kuik Etsy Shop. Here's the link if you would like to take a look - https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop. After having a good look through I found a lovely little digital stamp called Spring Delight and I knew that was the one I wanted. Here's the link just in case you want one for yourself - https://www.etsy.com/uk/listing/. This lovely image inspired me to make a 'just because' card for my Nan to put a smile on her face at these uncertain times thanks to Covid-19.

I started the card by sizing and printing my digital stamp. Next I used my pencils to colour it in. Once pleased with how it looked I placed it to one side. I decided a gate fold card would work great with this digital stamp. So I choose a hot pink a4 piece of card and marked both the top and bottom at 7.2cms, 21.6cms and 28.8cms. I drew a line at 28.8cms and used my guillotine to cut it. Then I used my score board to score at 7.2cm and 21.6cm.

I took my corner punch and used it to round all the corners on my card. Next I had a dig around in my patterned paper and found this lovely pearlescent floral paper in one of my paper pads. I measured the paper to fit each flap and used my corner punch to round the corners. I stuck them on to my card base using double sided tape. Then I cut my digital stamp and sentiment to size and used glue dots to secure them on to some hot pink card. I took one of my scalloped patterned scissors and cut around them both. Giving each one a lovely patterned frame.

I took some double sided pads and stuck my digital stamp and sentiment to the left flap of my card base. To finish off the front of my card I took six hot pink love heart gems. I stuck one in each corner and the other two on to my digital stamp.

The last part to do on my card was the inside. I cut a white piece of card to size and again used my corner punch to round the edges. I used doubled sided tape to stick it to the inside of my card. Then I cut out two lovely flowers from remaining backing paper and stuck one into the top left corner and one into the bottom right corner using more double sided tape. That's it! I hope you enjoyed it. Thanks for looking!
